Siamo in piazza Donatello dove fino al 1870 circa sorgeva la Porta a Pinti (foto sopra) costruita da Arnolfo e che si trovava allo sbocco della strada omonima, ancora oggi esistente. Il nome di Borgo Pinti sembrerebbe derivare dall'attività di pittura delle vetrate svolta dai frati Gesuiti che abitavano il vicino convento di San Giusto, che venne raso al suolo durante l'assedio del 1530; un'altra ipotesi, invece, vorrebbe far derivare il nome dal termine "repentite", ossia da ex prostitute che, pentite, erano ospitate nel vicino convento di Santa Maria Maddalena de' Pazzi.
